Family Support Services

 

Food Stamp Employment and Training – Assessment of all mandatory Employment & Training registrants to determine which of the Employment and Training component activities they should participate in, place registrants in the most suitable component, and assist them in finding employment

Food Assistance Program – Enables low income families to have nutritional meals.

Investigative Services Recovers overpayments in public assistance programs.  Detects/determines client misrepresentation or worker error; seeks reimbursement through legal action or administrative procedures.

 Medicaid – Medical insurance for eligible individuals.

Special Assistance (SA) - Supplements cost of care to help pay rest home costs (Adult Care Homes).

Carolina Access – Provides a more efficient and effective health care system for Medicaid recipients.  This program links Medicaid recipients with a primary care provider who delivers and coordinates their health care needs.

Work First Family Assistance (WFFA) - Cash assistance and services such as job search, training and job placement for cash assistance recipients. Work First assessments and applications are done Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 8:30 am.

N.C. Health Choice for Children – A North Carolina plan for health insurance for low-income children (not eligible for Medicaid).

Day Care – Provides childcare to enable persons to seek/maintain employment or training for employment.

Aid to the Blind – Helps visually impaired individuals with eye certification, adjustment and self-support, orientation and mobility and counseling services.

Case Management for Families at Risk – Social work services for families at risk of abuse or neglect to include monitoring the delivery of services, and referral to appropriate services providers.

Information & Referral (I&R) - Agency staff provide information to the general public about Social Service Programs and Community Services.

Transportation – Funds utilized to assist persons with transportation related to medical needs.
